While I would love to track my Lancer Ralliart, I can’t even think about having to do the transmission fluid change more often. The Diaqueen SSTF-1 fluid is roughly $150/gallon. It holds more than 1 gallon (but much less than 2).
Add in the diff, the transfer case, oil, and pads- we’re into a pretty obnoxious maintenance territory. Good on anyone who tracks/maintains an Evo/09+Ralliart.
(not mine but I do love the color combo)

$150 a gallon for trans fluid??? Oh fuck you, Mitsu. What the hell is it made from? The blood of billionaire fetuses and alien blood?

Is this an ATF?

Well if you do, I would bit the bullet and upgrade or add another SST cooler right away. It’ll help out a ton with temps and longevity of the trans and the fluid.

I believe the diff oil in my M3 costs more. It’s $365 a gallon.

$150 a gallon? That’s not bad. The diff oil in my M3 costs $365 a gallon , thankfully it only take 1.5L.

you know that there are very good aftermarket fluids that are way better than OEM and much cheaper right?

Yes, you’ll need a cooler to run track days with a TC-SST car. Also, I used to work at a dealer. The Transmission itself retails for $10k. Half the price of the damn car. So when I had an EVO X, I went with the 5 speed car.

I’m sorry but I have to ask. What wheels are on that Evo? They’re the bee’s knees.

Yeah, that transmission is pretty exotic and (if pushed) fragile.

Unicorn tears. There are other dsg/dc fluids that supposedly work, but there are reports of those eating away at seals. When the replacement is $10k, you don’t mess with it.

Define “way better”. There have been some interesting tear-downs on SST’s after using “better” or cheaper fluid. There are some seals/epoxy in there that have a tendency to dissolve.

Yeah, I was thinking about fluids today that cost less than $150/gal. It’s a list that is much longer than “things that cost more than $150/gal” but M3 diff fluid is one of them.

Redline is one of the best trans and diff fluids out there

They better be extracting that shit from xenomorphs and the money goes to the families of the workers. Thats the only valid explanation for this level of graft.

I’m with you on this one. Who should you trust more, the Oem who’s engineers spec the fluids, or a performance brand that makes some one size fits most fluids? I’ll stick to the oem stuff please.

Still less than a trans replacement. Relatively cheap insurance.

i work at a performance shop that uses aftermarket fluids. tear down plenty of motors and diffs. We break them because of power not fluid

Haha. I’m going for long-life on this one. At $10k/transmission, the fluid cost is cheap insurance.
I’ll be getting a “fun car” soon enough for power shenanigans.

True most our evos we work on are manual and usually 500+WHP. We do some auto DSMs but they are drag cars usually.
